  1. I’m taking ANCC adult np boards on August 9th. So nervous and terrified!!!! Do u know of anyone who has taken it very recently?

    1. Sorry it took me so long to reply back. I was on hiatus due to my pregnancy and recent marriage. I hope your boards went well! To answer your question, no, unfortunately I don’t know anyone who has taken the ANCC Adult NP boards.

  2. hi nurse melissa, I’m taking the ancc boards in a couple of months and would like to know if it’s worth getting the familyFNP bundle questions if I have the Leik review book thanks!

    1. Hi Gladys! Thank you for your question. Yes, the Family FNP bundle of questions is definitely worth getting since it has all kinds of questions that really prepared me for the exam. You can even time yourself taking the exam and make it a very real practice test for yourself. :) Good luck!!

  3. Hello,
I enjoyed reading your blog. A little about me and my question. I have been a nurse for 16 years primarily in ICU. I took the Barkley review, have the cds for Fitzgerald and Barkley which I listened to twice. I read through the barkley review books once. I also read the leik book and did her questions at the end. I also took the AANP pre test. I took Hollier’s predictor exam, and one exam on Barkley’s site. I did not do well on the Barkley i took the test prior to his review and I was border line on the hollier and aanp test. (right on the line). I graduated in November, took review in December, and took the AANP exam January the 19th and did not pass!
I must say I was shocked, I felt like I was prepared. I did not even think the test was crazy hard, it did have a lot of scenarios on it which always throw me off because i read too much into the question instead of just answering what they are asking for. So my question is now where to begin my study? I figured perhaps reading over the Barkley book again until I can really say I have mastered the material, and I also thought about taking the fitzgerald pharmacy review. I have not received my letter yet so I don’t know where I am weak in as of yet. I wish they would show this information on line instead of sending out a letter. It was be faster. Anyway thank you for your post and please email me your answer and advice if you have the time I am not online often.
    Thank you

    1. Hi Michelle,

Thanks for reaching out to me. Preparing for the NP boards is like preparing for a marathon. You need to take as many practice runs of the test as possible before you take the actual exam.

Definitely use FamilyNPPrep.com to order a bundle of practice tests. Take some tests timed and some untimed. Then review your answers and jot down answers you got wrong and figure out how you got it wrong. Think about your thought process and try to correct it. Try not to overthink the question, they are not trying to trick you. If it’s easy, it’s easy, most likely because if you know it, you know it.

Kellerman’s Family Nurse Practitioner Necessary 1000 Practice Questions is also a good one for more questions. You want to be as familiar with all the types of questions they could ask on the test.

Well, now you at least know what the test will be like and can better prepare for it. Don’t beat yourself up. Think positive, and keep persevering.

I hope this helps! Good luck!
